0607 Service Project

The Eight South Service Project is a celebration of the character and experience that our Eight South students have further developed during their time at Wydown Middle School.

This year, our students took part in several service and “team building” activities. After a day of prep work, our students were divided into four groups and they rotated through and then they spent the day rotating through the four activities below.

2006-2007 Activites:

  1. Outdoor Classroom Makeover
  2. Quote Rocks/Powerful Word Stones
  3. Team 8 South Student Blanket
  4. Team 8 South Scrapbook

As the students worked up a sweat turning soil, spreading mulch, filling wheelbarrows with rock, and reflecting on their year in our scrapbook, they soon became hungry. It was a good thing a group of eight south students had planned a “home cooked” lunch for their teammates. As our students and teachers cleaned up and walked upstairs to the dinning area, they were pleasantly surprised to find a spaghetti lunch, with a salad, Texas toast, and some cold refreshments.

As the students and teachers finished their lunch, they all packed into one large classroom for a special student performance created as a goodbye gift to their veteran science teacher, Mr. Voskuil. To see a video of the skit, click the clip below.
